Unwavering Faith, Do the Work, Happiness, Joy, a Beautiful Life Awaits

“Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.”–Saint Augustine

Learning to give our all in the endeavors of life will carry us through the tumultuous waters that rock our lives boat. When trials and tribulations challenge our experience, we must buckle down in faith.

pray, prayer, faith

Learning to trust God in total is a challenge. Faith or what we all understand blind faith goes against what most of us learn in life. Life is about to show me first, then I will believe you. How many times have you heard that in your life?

The quote rings so true. If you learn to trust God, stay in faith, do the work, life will bloom for those that believe. Somedays for me, it’s a challenge, but I make this my mantra every day to stay in faith.

Take time right now to let God know you’re grateful for his presence in your life!

Life Change to Bring Full Circle, Get outside yourself!

“No matter what has happened to you in the past or what is going on in your life right now, it has no power to keep you from having an amazingly good future if you will walk by faith in God. God loves you! He wants you to live with victory over sin so you can possess His promises for your life today!”–Joyce Meyer

Bringing our change full-circle requires us to get outside ourselves. I can hear you screaming. I am trying to change me! Ask yourself a question. If you’re in a relationship and everything is always about you how long will that last?

Well, short answer not too long. Also, how fair would that be? Not fair at all.

I like our quote says no matter what we’ve done, where we are God loves us. If we want to bring this full circle, the changes we’re making to bring happiness. We have to learn to give something of ourselves. You cannot always be me, me, me!

having a heart

Here are some ideas to quickly get outside yourself:

  1. Give a smile. A genuine smile to someone today. It’s free.
  2. If you’re standing in line at a coffee shop, buy the person behind you a coffee. Make a new friend.
  3. Grocery store, leave $5 or $10 with the cashier towards the person behind you to help pay the next person in line part of their grocery bill.
  4. If you know someone is having a hard time financially give them a gift card from a grocery store. Put some gas in their car. Let them know it’s not about the money, it’s that you want to help. Someday, they may help you back.
  5. If you know someone that is heading out for a job interview, pay for a new haircut, offer to take a woman to the nail salon, take interview clothes to dry cleaners and pay, give them a ride, pay the bus fare, see you can find tons of ways to show someone you care.
  6. Volunteer. Church, hospital, Goodwill, Community Center.
  7. Visit someone in a nursing facility. Plenty of retirees who sit lonely in nursing homes with no visitors.
  8. Go to the hospital, visit the chapel, and pray for the patients and family. If there is power in prayer, you can give that! If possible, pray with someone in the chapel.
  9. Pick up a pound of trash. Trust me, you can find a pound of waste. One garbage bag of trash off the street, may not seem like much. A step is always a step, size does not matter. A pound of waste!
  10. Plant a tree. Check with your community to see where you can plant a tree. My thought, if you can plant a fruit tree where you know folks can benefit. Maybe a piece of fruit of a tree you planted kept someone from going hungry that day.

You can always pray to God to help you. Continue to work on you to change for the better. Before you can break through, you will have to learn to look back not to view your past but to grab the hand of someone that needs help.

Kick Horrors of Fear in the Gut, Strength, Courage is Yours NOW!

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You can say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.”–Eleanor Roosevelt

Facing fear comes in many forms. It also is indoctrinated into our psyche over years and years. We play into it when difficulties overtake our life. When the bombardment of “I can’t” “this is too hard” become so overwhelming in our minds.

fear, happy, joy

Just as the quote states, we live through a horror.

The excellent news is the strength you need is within you. It’s not hard to tap into when you discipline yourself to overcome the challenge. Here are some daily rituals I do that help me get through:

  • Stop and just breathe. Take sixty seconds and breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. Breathing will relieve tension in your body. This makes a measurable change in your body.
  • Walk. Just get out and walk for a bit. Again relieving stress in your muscles will clear your mind. It’s incredible how this works. Walk up to a flight of stairs, walk down the street, just get out and walk.
  • Meditate. Learn to quiet your mind. Meditation can help you focus your mind on positive. There is a reason it’s called a meditation practice. Do this often, set designated times to practice your meditation.
  • Grateful. Be grateful for what you have and for what is coming. Thank God for the blessing he is moving into your life.
  • Pray. Don’t beg, pray. “Please God get me through this, please” NO! Give to God what you need, what he needs to guide you. Show him you’re grateful for it and let him do the rest.

You can overcome adversity, fear, you name it you can overcome. It takes work, it takes some pain, it takes real desire. You can do it! I have to push every day to overcome huge fears. Someday’s the journey seems too much. That’s the time take one more step, do one more thing forward. This makes all the difference.

Prayer it just Might be all you Have in the Moment

“It doesn’t matter how you pray. Just pray. All religions are beautiful, and they all have one common belief. There’s something bigger and greater than us that can give us and take from us life. It is better than the here and now.”–Mattie Stepanek

Prayer often times all we have in our darkest moments. My belief when we have nothing but prayer to hang onto. This is God giving us his private number to call.

At this moment, don’t beg for what you need, don’t need something for you. What you need is God’s favor upon your life. We must learn gratitude in the face of total ruin. If you learn from the quote, take a moment to learn about Mattie Stepanek.

spiritual, pray, Jesus

This little boy died in 2004, but before this amazing lads final day, he left the world a much better place than he found it.

From Mattie’s website:

Mattie J.T. Stepanek, a well-respected poet, and award-winning peace activist lived a life that was brief in length but powerfully blessed with depth. Born on July 17, 1990, Mattie began creating and sharing Heartsongs at the young age of 3. He explained that Heartsongs are “gifts that reflect each person’s unique reason for being.”

Mattie ultimately published six collections of his Heartsongs poetry books and one collection of Just Peace essays and e-mail correspondence with Former President Jimmy Carter. All seven of Mattie’s books became New York Times Bestsellers and touched millions of lives around the world.

He died on June 22, 2004, due to complications of Dysautonomic Mitochondrial Myopathy. Visit Mattie’s website: http://www.mattieonline.com/

My point to all this is. No matter what life throws at you, and for this beautiful child, it was a lot. You can choose life, or you can roll up and die. No matter the circumstance in our own lives, we can go to God in prayer.

God knows what you need, so just tell him to thank you for bringing it to you. Be grateful. Yes, I can hear many of you saying this child Mattie died where God was in that? Beyond our comprehension, it was Mattie’s destiny (hugely painful loss) to go home. We will never understand the reason but will need to accept that while he was here, he touched many souls. His gifts live on in his books.

This child if anything taught us that no matter what this life throws at you; choose to live or want to die. It is a choice. This precious child decided to live.

Our stewardship of his legacy is that we follow our hearts in prayer just as Mattie spoke. As he said, “Just Pray!”

Just as Mattie died from a disease, we will never comprehend. You too may be suffering through something in your life beyond comprehension. Makes no sense and seems terribly unfair. On some level, it might be. The choice is ours how we choose to live. When we go to God in prayer, life will open up in ways, none of us expected. In a good idea!

Life can throw at us losses we will never comprehend. It’s our obligation to that loss, to live. It might hurt from time-to-time but live we must!

If you’re in pain, I pray that God gives you the wisdom, strength, and hope to see your way clear of the rocky shoals ahead. Once you clear them, you a free to navigate the seas open up for the next adventure.

God bless.

Why Challenges are a Blankety-Blank

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”–Winston Churchill

Courage is where I believe we fail to achieve or overcoming challenges. When challenged in life obstacles can seem overwhelming, insurmountable to stifle our progress. In many occasions, we just give up and fail.

Learning to work through the pain of life is achieved through your own faith that all will work itself out as it should. Learning to accept that life will happen on its own terms. Learning to not push growth, but accept destiny unfolding on its terms. God does not need your help he needs your faith.

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”–Martin Luther King Jr.

God, will unfold your destiny timely when you allow it to unfold naturally. His favor can move the unmovable. When you hold-fast to faith in the face of absolute ruin. On the other side of this faith held strong is destiny!

obstacle, hope, happy

Look at challenges as the gateway to your life’s destiny. Accept the trials and tribulations with faith, that once you clear the dark forest a beautiful life season is before you. Our lives are seasonal, just as nature. My thought is this to be the natural order of things. How our body and the soul are connected to the seasonal universe.

Stop looking at obstacles as a barb-wire fence. With care, you can cross a barb-wire fence. You may get a poke or scratch here and there. The crossing can be done safely. You arrive at a new destination.

Admittedly, I struggle with faith, but I believe we all are challenged with faith from time-to-time.

The good news. Keep holding onto faith even when you can’t see any hope. The pain you may suffer through pails in comparison to the happiness on the other side. Faith will become easier to summon when you condition yourself.

We tend to lose faith in the precipice of change. If only one step further were taken, don’t let one step more stop you!

Call upon God through prayer and meditation. Thanking him for the end result of the season you find yourself. Focus on the result not the how. God has the how you stay in faith with gratitude that it’s done. Do this and God will make the impossible, possible!
