Own that Shi*

We know that in September, we will wander through the warm winds of summer’s wreckage. We will welcome summer’s ghost.”—Henry Rollins

One of the coolest moments in a Movie for me was when Harley Quin tells El Diablo after he tells his story about his powers “Own that Shit, own it!”—Harley Quin (from the movie Suicide Squad).

This article is about “Own that shit.” Whatever your life has doled out to you own it. But I received divorce papers, my car got repossessed, my boyfriend cheated on me, Own it! Don’t make the tragic mistake of pawning your life’s shit onto someone else. There is a reason this sounds harsh. Hang with me here!

prayer, hope, happiness

The absolute only person on this earth that can save you is you. Owning our shit means not being the victim. My ex-wife wanted a divorce, I never did. Until I was able to own that shit, I was an absolute mess. When I realized over time that my destiny is in another direction from hers. If I want to understand what God truly has for me, then I need to head down a new path.

Own the fact that whatever befalls your life you inevitably must own it. The great news is you can. Learning to accept the trials of your life will open a whole new unimaginable freedom. Not a day goes by that I don’t recognize regret in my own life. We all have regrets. It’s taking ownership that indeed mistakes, defeats may come and go. Accept them and move on past summers ghost.

Everything in our life is seasonal. As we learn to own our experience good or bad, we will march through to the next adventure in our life. Not all movies have a happy ending but, we still go see them. If you’ve never seen the movie Steel Magnolias, this movie will bring out real raw emotion. A loss that tears the very fabric of your life.

When you can turn tragedy in, own it, accept it, you can truly move on. Yes, some loss is monstrous and will require periods of mourning. However, at some point in time to begin your life anew. You simply need to own it.  Accept that life will move on without your participation. Ask yourself if your pain worth your life?

For example, if your child sees you cry, do they not come to you and say, “are you okay, please don’t cry.” Why, because they’ve heard you ask them the same question. In this scenario, you lose this child to cancer. The pain is unimaginable, to the point you truly just want to die. Ask yourself if your child was before you in this sad state, would they not want you to not cry and feel better? Loss is far-and-away the worse pain we as humans will ever experience.

At some point in time, we will have to own that pain. Accept what it is that nothing in this world will change the circumstance. We can wish it, pray for it, scream at God for it, but nothing will change. The only thing that can is me/you!

When my wife filed for divorce it for a time devastated my life. I did not want to know “nothing from nothing.” No amount of crying, yelling at God or the depression I fell in would change the outcome. I simply had to own it. Realize that for as much as I wish we could be together, that part of my life was over. The real question: just because that part of your life is over does that mean the rest of my life is over as well? Of course, it does not! New dawn, the destiny God truly has for you is waiting, own it.

Through our pain, we learn to own our life. We learn to accept that life will throw a fastball that hits you right in the noodle and knocks you the fuck out. You can stay down, or you can Own that Shit! When you can tell the enemy let me promise you one thing when I wake up every morning the first words out of your mouth will be “Oh Shit he’s Up!” (a phrase you perhaps have read like a quote, can ring true in your life).

Coming to terms with owning our life good or bad. You will find peace, hope, faith, love, and courage. I did it and so can you, God Bless!

Self-Doubt, Fear, on the other side, IS your Blessed Life

Self-doubt can overtake our life to the point of self-destruction. Stifle any positive progress. When you have a breakthrough along comes self-doubt. The enemy will love to see you implode.

“An exciting and inspiring future awaits you beyond the noise in your mind, beyond the guilt, doubt, fear, shame, insecurity, and heaviness of the past you carry around.”–Debbie Ford

Do you know why doubt comes into our mind? The attack of self-doubt comes from the enemy who recognizes that God is about to change your life. Your blessings are just around the bend, and the enemy says “oh no you don’t, let’s get that head filled with doubt and fear.” So, you get overwhelmed and stop.

prayer, spiritual, self improvement

When you need to shift gears, dig in and realize your amazing destiny is about to unfold. The enemy will choose to entrench himself to prevent any blessings. Fight, fight as you’ve never fought before. Don’t let him win. Let God know it’s your time; you’re not losing this time!

Let the enemy know he has no power over your life and cast him out of your mind, declare your life in Jesus name.

Don’t let doubt or fear debilitate your life. This attack is telling you that blessings are about to unfold, stay in faith! Your time to win!

Too often we take doubt, fear, despair, as though you must stop. We get depressed saying nothing will go my way. Sadly, many will give up. God never says if you get through this time for thirty days you will have blessings on day 31 and you give up on day 30. No precedent in the bible for giving up.

The amount of time we spend in despair is our choice. If you can learn to overcome, stay in faith, your destiny will open before you.

Keep your attitude knowing no matter what door slams in your face you’re going to immediately be happy because a new door is out there for you.

Cleaning up some wreckage of the past I was on the phone the other day with the IRS. Scary thought, right? The first person I was able to work with took over an hour to get on the phone — very nice lady walking me through fixing a problem. Almost done with everything and we lose our phone call. She is disconnected in a blink of an eye. All that work I was screaming “no, no, no, ah man.” Being honest you might have heard an expletive or two.

After waiting a while with no return phone call, I call back. On hold for well over an hour. Get through a few more people to get to the nice lady that helped me finish.

More to the story this is where God touched this situation with favor. After the final lady and I started, she read through my file. Comes back on the phone twenty minutes later to explain to me that what I was doing with the first person was wrong. The solution is simple. She made some adjustments to my account and like that it’s over. Everything is now okay!

God had to get me off the first call to get me to the right person. The person who would fix all and make everything okay again. God closed the phone call that by my first reaction was “no oh my no, all that work lost.” When in fact it was not the solution at all. That day I gave myself a B+ on how I handled the situation. I kept saying all the while “God has me.”

When God moves situations around in your life, sometimes it won’t make sense. Just remember that life is adjusting to help you not hurt you. Think about this for a while. Help not hurt!!!

A cure to your problem can occasionally come in the form of what you think is a problem. Don’t be fooled; keep your eye on the ball. God has you!

Dark Forboding Clouds fill the Sky with Beauty at Sunset, What do you see?

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”–Rabindranath Tagore

Perspective gives way to negative or positive thoughts. It’s our choice which side of the bench we sit on, positive or negative. Don’t give way to the negative even when that’s all you can see.

clouds, sunset, lake, mountains,

Negativity is a byproduct of the enemy wanting you to stay status quo. Yes, easier said than done. Many days I have to give to God, “I don’t see you, feel you, or understand why I suffer.” At this point merely surrender to God, let him know that you believe he has a way when you can’t see a way out.

The quote is right clouds can add a beautiful picturesque color filled Sunset to the end of the day. A dramatic wonder of God’s creation.

Right now I am working through a time where I feel apart from God. It’s not that I don’t believe, or have faith. It’s that at this moment I need to quiet my mind and try to hear what God is saying. I am struggling through and keep letting God know I’m here.

Embrace the Warmth of the Sun on your Face, No Shadows Before You

“Turn your face to the sun, and the shadows fall behind you.”–Unknown

We’re all guilty of looking back into the shadows of our lives. It’s within those shadows that you find depression, sadness, and loneliness.

prayer, faith, love

Shadows hide from us the destiny that God has for us. God does not live in the shadows he lives in the light. Turn your face to the sunshine, find warmth in the suns embrace. Feel the warmth open up your dreams.

It’s much easier to look back for some reason. Many of us struggle to find the light. I would urge you this day to venture outside, close your eyes and look up to the sun. Take a moment to let the Universe know you are grateful.

It’s the simple things like this that build the foundation of your strength.

Struggle, Obstacles, Hurdles, on the Otherside is your Destiny

“Where there is no struggle, there is no strength.”–Oprah Winfrey

We all wish we had less struggle. Another quote that I will paraphrase you can’t become a good sailor in calm seas. For God to bless our lives with more, we must be able to handle the trials and tribulations of living with grace.

walk in faith

In my own life, I am challenged with many obstacles and hurdles. Past articles I have written spoke to this as taking a trip, and from time-to-time, we run into road construction. Sometimes we can see the development in front of us and sometimes what we need to understand is just over the horizon.

Learning to have the patience that the Universe is moving to clear our path. Faith that God has a destiny preplanned for our life. Let your future unfold without imposing your will. Do the work before you, have patience when necessary and hold unwavering faith that through the struggle lies your destiny.
