Learning to Live Outside Ourself, Being a Blessing

With all the political venom, with nothing but negative news filling our social media feeds, our news programs. It’s not a wonder we may struggle with depression or just WTF!

Life Research Project is my movement to find reasons to be a blessing on this earth. Many ways we can give back even in small ways that require no financial investment when family budgets are stretched beyond limits.

volunteer, hope, change

Becoming a blessing to those around us, to the environment has immeasurable grace. Giving in the face of adversity will change your state-of-mind. We all want to feel better, have fun, make a difference. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Pick up a pound of trash. We can all find a pound of litter to police up.
  2. Plant a tree. Preferably a fruit tree that folks could freely pick fruit from. Perhaps in an area where homeless people could get a piece of fruit.
  3. Start a Garden in an area where homeless folks are nearby. Allow anyone to pick from the garden.
  4. Visit a nursing home. Be company to someone that is lonely.
  5. Go to a hospital and merely pray in the Chapel for healing. Perhaps even pray with someone that is praying for a loved one.
  6. Volunteer, food pantry, Goodwill, Hospital, Nursing home, Boy’s & Girls Club, Animal Rescue Shelter, community center,  as you can see plenty to choose.
  7. Offer a bottle of water to a soul that is panhandling. Keep some bottled water in your vehicle. Instead of money offer a bottle of water. Say a prayer for God to protect the person you gave water.

Part of living life needs to be living outside our own needs. Even when you’re screaming “what about me,” make it about helping someone. Stop! Listen to these words, being a blessing to others in the face of adversity.

When we can give even when we feel we have nothing to offer. Believe me when I say if you do this with an open heart. Sewing this seed can only bring a harvest beyond anything you imagined.

Feeling good helping others allows us to realize more can be achieved when we work together. If you planted a fruit tree that feeds hungry souls that may be hurting. How would you feel knowing that people did not go hungry at the moment they picked a piece of fruit from a tree you planted.

Doing good things, sewing seeds of peace, hope, love, and prosperity. You can’t help but feel love for yourself. Sometimes seeing more than just ourselves will actually heal our soul.

Pick one thing you can do this week to be a blessing to the world. I showed seven possible ways, you may have something else in mind. Do not do this and say to God okay; it’s your turn. Look beyond you!!!

Learn to be selfless, and in doing so, life will open up for you in ways never dreamt.

Patience is the Key, Blessings, Success, and Life

“Patience is not simply the ability to wait – it’s how we behave while we’re waiting.”–Joyce Meyer
Letting God do his work takes time. Patience allows God to see your faith, that you trust enough to allow your life’s destiny to open up as it should. When you lose faith because times get tough slows the progress.

self help, happy, peace

We all struggle with patience because we want everything right now. Living in a world that wants us to believe now, now, now!

The struggle is we don’t see an outcome being positive quickly enough then our first instinct is to jump in the middle of something that needs time. Yes, you have to do the work, what’s necessary to move things along.

There is a difference in taking steps to realize a change, or forcing something that is not altogether ready to manifest. For example, a relationship you push too hard when you push someone away because you don’t give them the time and space to come to the same place you are.

Worse still is you merely give up. “Oh this is not going to work, or it would have by now.” The Universe will align the sun, the moon and the stars in your favor with Patience. Remember you cannot say I want a new job and then order a pizza and wait. You have to get out and do the work, look for a job, interview and keep chugging until you here “Welcome we want to hire you.”

Success Organize, Execute, Win!

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”–Winston Churchill

Everyone chases success most of their adult life. Certainly, I have. This is a double edge sword. On one hand, of course, we want to achieve success. On the other, we can sacrifice a life in order to achieve success. Balance do you have it?

Learn to be present in the moment in every aspect of your life!

self help, success, happiness

When chasing dreams be sure that you balance work life and home life. Especially, when children are involved. I can tell you firsthand that kids want your attention and deserve it. Don’t sacrifice! Balance can be done, you just have to commit yourself.

You can have a successful career with life balance. Learning time management, no lollygagging during the day. Use a calendar to assign times to complete tasks. Read books on project management. Learn to prioritize.

Godspeed in your journey!

Halfway with a Decision, Half Done!

“Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.”–Theodore Roosevelt

prayer, thought, self help

If all it takes is belief to get us halfway there, what are you waiting for?

Belief, faith, and steps towards a solution no matter how small will make large leaps forward. Don’t fall into “it won’t happen for me” it will happen for you with some perseverance.

Put a smile on your face right now! Make the decision to be happy, move forward and get this party started!

Is Adversity happening to you or FOR YOU

“You’re going to go through tough times – that’s life. But I say, ‘Nothing happens to you, it happens for you.’ See the positive in adverse events.”–Joel Osteen

In our previous blog post, we talked about God being our coach. As you can see in this quote to paraphrase “nothing happens to you, it happens for you.” That’s my point entirely.

What happens for you is coaching. We need to learn from adversity. Look at this as though you trained really hard one day and now you’re so sore with pain it hurts. God as your coach is going to work you out to make you stronger. Good coaches push athletes to their limits. Same principal.

winning, happy, God

Why does God do this? If you’re going to run a Marathon and you cannot even make a mile, how can you expect to move forward with the race? You have to condition yourself, a coach will push you so that you can make the distance. It’s not God saying no, it’s God pushing you so he can say yes!

When I grasped this my life truly changed. All the stress went away, and I was anxious to go to practice as it were.
