How God Can Help You With the Future, He is the Coach

The other day while recording a Podcast, I had a bit of an epiphany. We’ve been talking about New Years resolutions, goals and how to get going. Speaking also about change being difficult and working through that.

My own question and a question that is posed to me all the time, “Why is change hard?”. Why if we’re Christians does God allow us to have trials and tribulations. He is God, so why can’t he just miracle me through?

That’s when it came to me. God is like a great coach. If you’ve played any sort of sports, you know that coaches work you hard to make you better. Get you in shape to handle the season of play. At the beginning of the athletic season, you may train, two-a-days, extended hours to prepare you for the season.

How I now see God, as my coach. What pain and struggle I have now is preparing me for the season. If you’re Christian, you understand you have seasons of life. How can God advance you to run a marathon if you can’t run a mile?

Training is hard, some days it takes us mentally to the breaking point. “I can’t do it” “It’s to difficult” yet the champion in you won’t quit. This too, can be the breaking point that your mind will try and convince you that this is too difficult. NO, NO, it’s not. That’s your brain telling you, the enemy putting that self-doubt garbage in your head.

Where people fail is getting into self-doubt or the feeling it’s too hard. Merely giving up at the first obstacle. Another fail is “this is taking to long.” It won’t work! Successful people will tell you they are because they’re willing to take one more step than you are.

God is preparing us to win. Training is hard, sometimes excruciating. Think about if you’re going to become a world-class athlete you can’t ski a downhill if the only slope you ski is the bunny-hill.

Being a competitive athlete takes training and preparation. So it stands to reason that if God is going to bless your life with more, you need to be prepared to handle it. He is not going to let you fail. Therefore training is a must. Don’t look at it that God is not answering your prayers, trials, and tribulations are God coaching you to win. Remember, you can’t play in the Superbowl if all you’ve played is flag football with your buddies.

Think about this for a moment. If the struggle is part of your current experience, look at it as coaching. Meditate on what lessons need to be learned. Are you stressed or calm? Calm allows change to occur for the better, stress stifles progress.

Look for learning in a tough situation. It may take some time, it’s not just going to stand up and say “hey, here is the lesson” you have to find the answer. It will come when you least expect it, and it will come on God’s timetable not your own.

When you learn to allow destiny to open up as it should, life will become incredible. You have to do the work nothing comes for free.

God is going to push you like a great coach will push to mold you into a world-class athlete. The same principle applies. Are you ready to be the world-class person you’ve always dreamed of being?

Allowing myself to realize wow God is my coach, he is coaching me to be a world-class player of life. That’s when I master each training objective, I move closer to God’s true blessings for me. This realization has indeed allowed me to breathe!

Vitamin D & You

Vitamin D plays an essential role in many areas of your health. It contributes to bone strength, heart health, and disease prevention. It also plays a vital role in the immune system.
One study found that insufficient levels of vitamin D3 have been reported in 36 percent of healthy adolescents and 57 percent of adults in the U.S. Other studies estimate that one billion people worldwide have insufficient vitamin D3 levels.
A significant challenge to overcome high rates of vitamin D deficiency is that it’s not easy to maintain sufficient levels of vitamin D with diet and lifestyle, according to Amy Myers, M.D.heart health, fitness, yoga
Nicknamed the “sunshine vitamin,” the primary source of vitamin D is through sun exposure, which triggers a process on your skin that produces vitamin D.
However, busy lifestyles mean we’re spending fewer hours outside. On top of that, fear of skin cancer means wearing sunscreen during that limited sun exposure, which reduces the body’s ability to absorb vitamin D by more than 90 percent. Living farther north, where you receive fewer direct sun rays, or having darker skin, which consumes less sunlight, further reduces your ability to produce vitamin D.
Not many foods are naturally rich in vitamin D. These foods include salmon, fish liver oil, organ meat, such as the beef liver and egg yolks.
Vitamin D works as a kind of light switch in your body, turning on or off genes and processes that your body needs to maintain health. Active vitamin D is sent to many different areas of your body, including your bones, intestines, colon, brain, and immune cells, which all have vitamin D receptors, according to Meyers. The active vitamin D binds to these receptors and promotes vitamin D responsive genes, essentially turning them on.
Adequate levels of Vitamin D reduce your risk of infectious disease by strengthening your natural immune system, according to Myers. Vitamin D turns on essential peptides in your immune system that trigger a strong anti-microbial response, allowing you to quickly and effectively fight off invaders before they can develop into a full-blown infection.
If you decide to take a vitamin D supplement, it should be vitamin D3, the form of the vitamin that is most beneficial to your body. Also, because vitamin D is fat-soluble, it should be taken with a meal for better absorption.
According to a report from WebMD, one study proved that people who take their vitamin D supplement with the most substantial meal of the day get as much as 50 percent better absorption.

Patience is a Virtue, argg!

At heart I think we’re all a bit spoiled to want instant gratification, we want it now! For me, this is a struggle. When we think about the plan for our life waiting for things to unfold as they should is a struggle for most of us, to accept.

Frustration could not be more pronounced in my life today. I want everything to change right now. Imposing my will only slow down what God can do for me. Do you find yourself battling your head? I do! Just about every day, it seems to hit me the frustration of waiting.

Finding a way to quiet the old noodle is a problem that I want to change NOW. Something I can do right now that is not imposing upon the universe is evolving negative parts of my life to positive outcomes. So I move this situation to prayer. Will, it honestly works faster maybe or maybe not?

What Patience Looks Like

That is the real challenge of faith. Just being able to relax and say okay God I’m with you, so let’s see where you’re taking me today. Bang! I don’t want to wait. I end up having to remember all the beautiful things that have happened to me in God’s good time.

Okay, so ego says you can do this, jump in, we got this. God will unveil to us our destiny if we choose to let him. Keeping busy helps me relax my head enough to slow down and relax, here are a few things I do:

  • Take a walk; I call it my prayer walk. Talking to God, sharing everything that I can.
  • Write as I am now. Do you have something like this you can do?
  • Do you have a home project that needs doing?
  • Work out, play with kids, do something busy.

If you keep your head busy, then the enemy can’t sneak in and muddle your brain. It’s also hard to find whether your thoughts are with God or being directed by you. Always ask in prayer for guidance. Happened to me the other day I started down the path and realized that I was going the wrong way.

Subsequently, I was able to let God know that my choice was not a good one, and moved back onto the right path. It was pretty cool to see that I can make a mistake. That God’s not going to punish me for mistakes that I might make. It’s like I’m a bowling ball that God is the bumpers that keep me going down the lane.

We all need the patience to allow the beauty of our lives to reveal itself in good time. When we force the issue that can delay our journey with unnecessary frustrations. I get it! It’s tough for most of us. I’m certainly not suggesting you sit on your backside and do nothing but don’t force an issue. When you meditate on this, you will gain clarity.

Slow down, pray about it and do what you should every day to keep life moving. When you think about a thing enough, you in your heart know what the right thing is and what is the wrong something. Do the right thing!

Have too vs. Want too

Our lives are based on many things that we end up settling for because we don’t see a way to achieve what we desire the most. Do you want to continue to pay for the status quo? I don’t!

Throughout our lives, we have been conditioned to believe that without an education, money, status, and dozens more, why you cannot achieve. Your brain tells merely you NO. If you’re a spiritual person, the enemy gets in your head and convinces you that you will be nothing more than what you are today. Horse Manure!

Recondition your thoughts with faith. Not wishful thinking, hope! The big difference in that statement. You cannot just say to God, I want to write the next great novel that tops the New York Times bestseller list and not type a word. You have to take action to achieve what you desire. Work and I mean hard work.

The Life You Want

 

Most of us have had the question posed to us: “If you could do anything in the world, what would you do?” If you put aside a dream in your life, what is stopping you from picking it back up? The answer to that question is your head, doubt, and fear.

If like me you would like to live the last half of your life doing what you want to do not what you have to do, we need to make some radical changes. Not impossible changes, fundamental changes, big difference.

Here are a few things you need to make a part of your life now:

  1. Don’t worry about how you will do it. Believe as though it already exists in life now. This is incredibly powerful when you see it in your mind and believe it in your heart. The how will present itself when you least expect it.
  2. Stay out of your head. Overthinking kills dreams faster than anything. Believe in your heart.
  3. Take steps every day towards the new goal. It can be researched, educating yourself, praying, visualization, it can be anything that moves you forward.
  4. Fight to keep negative thoughts out of your head. Also, don’t listen to nay-sayers. Sadly that can be family. What’s in your heart is what matters. Follow that which calls to your soul.
  5. Fear is not part of your equation anymore. When you come from a place of fear, you will not attain your goal. Don’t be afraid to have the life you want. Surprisingly folks self-sabotage life because they’re conditioned to be frightened.

Thoughts are the killer of all dreams, negative thoughts will drag you down. Don’t listen to them. If you want something wrong enough, negative thinking has to be conditioned to not overtake your mind.
