How God Can Help You With the Future, He is the Coach

The other day while recording a Podcast, I had a bit of an epiphany. We’ve been talking about New Years resolutions, goals and how to get going. Speaking also about change being difficult and working through that.

My own question and a question that is posed to me all the time, “Why is change hard?”. Why if we’re Christians does God allow us to have trials and tribulations. He is God, so why can’t he just miracle me through?

prayer, meditation, Training

That’s when it came to me. God is like a great coach. If you’ve played any sort of sports, you know that coaches work you hard to make you better. Get you in shape to handle the season of play. At the beginning of the athletic season, you may train, two-a-days, extended hours to prepare you for the season.

How I now see God, as my coach. What pain and struggle I have now is preparing me for the season. If you’re Christian, you understand you have seasons of life. How can God advance you to run a marathon if you can’t run a mile?

Training is hard, some days it takes us mentally to the breaking point. “I can’t do it” “It’s to difficult” yet the champion in you won’t quit. This too, can be the breaking point that your mind will try and convince you that this is too difficult. NO, NO, it’s not. That’s your brain telling you, the enemy putting that self-doubt garbage in your head.

Where people fail is getting into self-doubt or the feeling it’s too hard. Merely giving up at the first obstacle. Another fail is “this is taking to long.” It won’t work! Successful people will tell you they are because they’re willing to take one more step than you are.

God is preparing us to win. Training is hard, sometimes excruciating. Think about if you’re going to become a world-class athlete you can’t ski a downhill if the only slope you ski is the bunny-hill.

Being a competitive athlete takes training and preparation. So it stands to reason that if God is going to bless your life with more, you need to be prepared to handle it. He is not going to let you fail. Therefore training is a must. Don’t look at it that God is not answering your prayers, trials, and tribulations are God coaching you to win. Remember, you can’t play in the Superbowl if all you’ve played is flag football with your buddies.

Think about this for a moment. If the struggle is part of your current experience, look at it as coaching. Meditate on what lessons need to be learned. Are you stressed or calm? Calm allows change to occur for the better, stress stifles progress.

Look for learning in a tough situation. It may take some time, it’s not just going to stand up and say “hey, here is the lesson” you have to find the answer. It will come when you least expect it, and it will come on God’s timetable not your own.

When you learn to allow destiny to open up as it should, life will become incredible. You have to do the work nothing comes for free.

God is going to push you like a great coach will push to mold you into a world-class athlete. The same principle applies. Are you ready to be the world-class person you’ve always dreamed of being?

Allowing myself to realize wow God is my coach, he is coaching me to be a world-class player of life. That’s when I master each training objective, I move closer to God’s true blessings for me. This realization has indeed allowed me to breathe!

Life Change

This is a little taste of my new book coming out the first of next year. Not yet titled, but it covers life change. What steps we need to take for lasting change.

Change cannot come without discomfort.

Don’t quit because of discomfort. Change is not occurring as quickly as hoped. The pain of loss or other stressors is not dissipating.  The mind is continually in a barrage of negative thoughts, self-doubt and feels as though nothing is getting better.

“I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.”–Muhammad Ali

Keeping an eye towards a positive outcome. Being grateful in advance of anything manifesting good in life. Meditate on the result.

If you take a trip around the world at some point in time weather delays, airport delays, canceled flights, lost luggage, lost hotel reservations, something is going to happen. The chances are excellent that more than once.

Would you stop an around the world trip over a delay? No, you deal with it and keep going!

The first activity to do:

Breathe

You read that right breath. The power of this simple act is immeasurable. Here is why. The simple act of taking a break to breathe for just a minute or two. It helps to slow down your mind, relaxes your muscles and body. Your mind will begin to relax.

How to breathe:

  1. Take a couple of deep cleansing breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.
  2. Slow your breathing to a relaxing pace. Close your eyes to focus on a slow deep breathing exercise.
  3. Breath deep into your lungs without straining. Allow the oxygen to fill your lungs and a relaxed exhale.
  4. Continue this for a good sixty seconds or a little more.
  5. When you feel relaxed merely stop.

What outcome to desire is relaxation. Let go of your body in a chair when doing this breathing exercise. Just taking a couple of minutes a few times per day to breathe. You will be amazed at how calming this can be.

The tension in the body will begin to wash away. Give it time. This works so well you will make it a part of your daily routine. Who thought something so easy would make such a difference in our day.

Can You Sell, Sales?

This article is for folks that don’t think they can sell. In fact, you detest the ground a salesman walks on. You can’t stand anything about the selling process.

Well here I come in my plaid pants, white shoes and belt to teach you something about sales. Okay if you’re still reading, I’m joking. However, I am not kidding about helping you learn some powers of persuasion that you can use to sell anyone on an idea, a product, or just yourself. All in a good, healthy, and fun way. Nothing crazy here!sales, selling, business

We all at some point in time need to be able to get others to like what we have. The what we have does not matter remember that. It’s getting our point across in a fun and engaging way. So whatever it is you want to swing your way. Buckle your belt and let’s get rolling.

Selling is incredibly simple. You need to convince the person or persons you’re trying to pitch that what you have will change the lives of those who use it. If someone believes that they can’t live without what you have, you don’t have to sell. You just have to push the pen in front of them, sign here.

This process takes a passion for what you’re offering. Understanding the product, service better than what the average Joe does. If you know how to show someone how what you have is life-changing, it’s not sales. Getting someone to understand that a tire will change their life, that takes real skill. Selling a tire is just selling a tire. If you can demonstrate how this set of tires will improve your driving experience, create value around that. You have to understand every single aspect of a tire, from the raw materials, manufacturing process, testing, life, safety, and quality.

Then you need to formulate a story that does not put customers to sleep. Storytelling (NO not lying) authentic storytelling. You need to be the person that National News organizations would call for a professional opinion. If you can tell the story that would rival a James Patterson Novel, then you will be well on your way to benefiting your customers in a whole new way.

Compelling customers, NOT SELLING CUSTOMERS. The big difference with a better, long-lasting result. We have to get passed, turn them, and burn them attitude towards sales. Why do you think advertisers use ways to make you feel special if you use this product or that? The persuasion is better than “hey, this is crazy Bob’s widget sales right here in downtown USA we’re dealing, slashing prices, we won’t be undersold.” ARRRGGGG gross no way it’s junk!

Telling a story that touches my soul. Figure out how what you do changes lives. I hear everyone saying, “okay Mr. Big Time, how do I convince someone that my tomatoes are going to change my life, their tomato’s for goodness sake.” My answer is to stop whining and let’s figure it out! Together!

Yes, this will take some real thought and research. You need to dive in and learn everything from why the tomato seed you use is far better than your competition, that the dirt where your tomatoes are grown makes a difference. That the packaging, the shipping of your vegetables is done in ways that genuinely preserve the end product. Do you see my point yet?

Think about it for a good while. Understand your process from the cradle to the grave. Learn it like you, your life depended on it. That if you miss one small detail, it could be fatal. The story has to move people to action. It has to run me so that I want to buy it. I will happily pay more for something I see the life-changing value. If you knew in your heart that what your purchasing was going to increase the benefit of your life in some significant way, would you put a price tag on that? NO, you would look for a way to BUY it. I would not need to sell you anything because you want to have it far exceeds any other emotion.

Telling a story about what products or services do to change the lives of those using it. If you can master a story worthy of inspiring the soul. All the sales skills in the world won’t matter. The customer will want to buy, you won’t have to sell a thing.

Rehearse the story until it flows from your lips like a river flows through a meadow. It has to come from your heart. Otherwise, it sounds like a canned presentation, and you lose. Obviously, if you have a product or service you perform the passion is there. So the story will come if you allow it to. Meditate on it if you have to. Take notes, organize your thoughts. Read your story aloud, when you do so, then you will hear how it sounds. Great way to edit!

When you can master the art of storytelling, you won’t need a bunch of fancy sales mumbo-jumbo. You have to ask for the sale, but you won’t have to what I call sales to beg someone to buy from you. They will already see the value from your story, the rest is just signing here folks.
